Ended the 8th Semester

Aiy, semester break are ending soon, so excited for my coming final semester in Raffles, its certainly been a short but nice journey excluding all the rushing for due dates and last minute studies for test,, but its all well.

passing in all classes, now theres only 3 classes left for me in Raffles including my internship. Havent really got a clue yet to do intern for which company but certainly not helping my dad yet, had made a promise that after i got my degree and being certified as gemologist then only i will be back helping dad :)

Its still a long way to go but time sure flies quick. So, the previous studio class were stone setting and another class Jewelry Technology as we have to design for mass production while the studio class are to learn stone setting. Seriously, stone setting isnt my thing at all, but i got to at least learn it and pass my class LOL. But Sydney had been a great help with it, sadly she left the college because of some childish issues. gonna miss you in the studio Sydney.

Learn a lot about accuracy and the way stones sets in, i actually didnt thought that the steps would be so little just burring the holes with different burs and cleaning up but the important is accuracy whether the hole is bur straight and the heights and everything, is not easy. Below are some of my setting samples.

Instead of Setting samples, the class also requires us to design a jewelry with stones incorporated and also with a chosen designer. What i chosen were George Sawyer's magnificent mokume pieces. It inspired me and influenced me a lot, and i had a mind set of making my own mokume but with copper and brass instead of silver and gold,but sadly my design were too complex and made me to do a much much more simpler piece due to the time frame i had before the due. 

this is my piece, inspired from George Sawyer's butterfly mokume, because i like the way he had his black mokume so that it totally contrast with the gold. Supposingly the interior of the piece is gold plated but there were technical misunderstandings of patina plated materials and turned out my entire piece became patina sadly. If not there will be an extreme contrast betwen the interior gold and exterior patina. The stone i used were just a pink cubic zirconia stone. The base material of this piece is sterling silver.

For jewelry technology class, i designed a collection of jewelry that can be mass produced. Its called the 'Minimal Tri's Collection'. This class were great for me because of my dad's business as i need to learn to design for mass produce therefore this class helped me a lot. So what i had were a tie chain and a necklace with a button interchangeable piece and a pendant matching with a pair of earring. Below is just the pendant and necklace piece. Visiting Royal Selangor 03102012

Whoo!! thats fast, Week2 for this semester is about to over, and assignments had alrdy started pilling up, theres just so much to do as im graduating in 6 months time.

My group and Sydney went for field trip visiting Royal Selangor for our Jewel Tech class as we need to learn about tech on mass production? hahaha no idea the reason why, but the reason we joined is that we can work with pewter cause they have these workshop called 'The School of Hard Knocks'



This workshop is actually teaching us how to make bowls with pewter by 'knocking' on a flat sheet of pewter, its way easier then doing it with silver like my bowl assignment i did for my previous sem, working with pewter is much softer and we were also looking around in their gallery and factory as they produce many pewter products like bowls, tableware, trophies and etc, the work is beautiful, if u got time and got no place to go? drop by there! the service are friendly and the work is just fantastic :)



and also did i mention they got their own jewelry line as well?, its called Selberan and they have some very nice jewelry there, its worth to have a look and even my senior's work were featured there too, for their Valentine collection. The place is not far from Raffles KL and fyi, Royal Selangor is one of Malaysia's Proudest Brand, so if foreigners are trying to look for a place to explore and see Malaysia made stuff, you should drop by here.

hahahaha, now im like promoting Royal Selangor, got this habit that if i loved the place i will be talking about it as like im promoting, is this habit a good thing or bad? LOL

After visiting the Royal Selangor, we went to Levain for lunch, the food and environment there are just lovely, their bakery are good and i love their Japanese Curry Rice, just got to order that whenever im there hahaha.

Anyhow, had been spending a lot of times on my rendering for the OE and SJDA design competition, hope im even qualify, i doesnt wanna put that much of high hopes in it because im very afraid of expecting too much and couldnt achieve it later on.

Recent Stuff im working on #2

so thinking what im up to recently??
well, theres nothing much lately, my minds and thoughts are all now thinking of my assignments and the singapore competition, still considering whether to enter or not, for assignments, this semester, is silver smiting class, so lecturer ask us to design 2 cup holder and a bowl/plate.

   

 I choose the gorgeous and famous Dali Flower, by Salvador Dali which is a flower sculpture made out of gold as my inspiration for these assignment. And recently i had been fallen for enamel so much that for the my cups im using enamels too... and due to the price of gold and im still a student... of course im using entirely silver. LOL

Alter Ego Enamel Eyewear

The Inspiration i used were the 'blue ocean' and 'sea life' because i were very fascinated with the various species of sea creatures that lived in the ocean. Moreover, there are countless species that are swimming in our ocean. This assignment was to design an alter ego eyewear, so my alter ego were 'CONCENTRATION' because im a person who always lack of concentration.

All my assignment had done nicely, i hope, hahahahhaha

well, i sure do hope my presentations could have been better if i could have more time, its kinda hard when theres so much thing coming together, i felt like the older u are, the more things u will do and when that happens u will know that 24 hours is not always enough, anyhow, I DONE MINE without fail, and i do hope i passes with flying colours as well, had been working darn hard for my projects, assignment, reports, and my the design sketches, so as presentations.

Well, its like a blink of an eye that i had finish half of my diploma, without any failures in class, and i hope its continuing like that. My recent project was all about enameling which is on Cloisonne and Champleve, and the project that were assigned to us were to make alter ego eyewear ( i think i said it in my previous post ) which is definitely very challenging for me and my group as well, but in the end we were able to done it and everyone finished it nicely i could say...

I felt enamel is a very good material to work with, i think the very reason is because i love playing with colours as i like to see how the colours would change when different colours combined, i would even go crazy if i have various pallets of colour with me, but sadly there isnt any because Malaysia doesnt have supplier on enamel colours SUXX where we have to purchase it online from overseas, such a drag and annoying. Its been fun and stressful for this project, i actually had more then 5 time headache for the first time in just one project because it was too huge and is my very first time constructing eyewear and plus constructing my enamel design. Now i know why did Adam had us do our design into graph paper and had us complete our design first then only start making them, because it will be hard when I doesnt do that and figure that out later.

no matter what, i done it and im proud of this project where WE actually finished it HOORAYY :)

End of 4th semester and 'The Vow'

On sem break currently, so good i can rest now, and blog oftenly.. so much to blog AHAHHA

well, before that, im gonna blog about the last day of sem :DD

so we had our Final presentation day for ARCS, and also due date for research paper and drawings

hmmm.. our presentation went on well of course!!! my group, yiyi and i that were doing jewellery, accessories and fashion of geisha had did quite well i can say compare to the previous presentation we had even thought we did not fully utilize the time.. 5 extra minutes 

anyhow!! that day were great!!!! so after we finished everything and before we leave college for movie, we had a group photo :D

A series of 5 Structural inspired rings 24032012

hey awesome readers!!! hahahah,

deeply sorry that i wasnt able to blog cause i had been burning the midnight oil for assignments, rings, presentation, research paper and other stuffs!!! well, now is the long waited semester break!! wheeee!!!!

Current life #3

there are times that i went crazy and nuts, brain is all fuzzy with all assignments going around around and around, been so lifeless how i wish my sem break is a slight earlier.. its like the whole Raffles students are fighting against time cause week 11 now!! so with all the people around me.. different emotion and different stuff going on.. and annoying people that kept on asking pathetic questions just seriously pissed me off and lies that should be told, tried my best on helping my friends but ending up being lied instead! go hell you, i dont need to help you cause yr a junior of mine only im willing to help even im busy.. 

sorry if im a bit loud and overlaugh a bit, or maybe being all crazy that without sense, thats a way for myself to release stress along the way when im doing my assignments, too much going on with my life now, less communication with parents, an argue thats never solved with my classmates, assignments to be due, places i wanna go, gathrings i wanna organize but failed insanely, and the only place that im willing to complain bout it is here, my blog, and to my readers.. been pretty down on my reader rates, hope it gets up soon,

Wassup, had been very bz with my assignments lately, by lately i meant very late cause about every weekday im going to college early at about 6.30 and started to work on my things and had class then after class, work on it again till 9+ then only i left college. The reason is because week 12 is coming, and the due dates of the assignment is that week which its starting to haunts us with stress yet again.. what a sad thing huh..!!! then later that will be a week off for semester break.. time flies so fast aye!!! there i have to FLY FASTER *whoooooosh*

the assignments that im working on is the 5rings like i said on my previous post, this assignment we are required to use the combination of both wood and metal. So this is one of them which i haven even done yet, only started one now!! that means i need a rush.

Pilling Up of Assignment

its already week 8 this week, wth right??!!!
so that means the second project had been assigned or issued.. this time around we have to design 1 series of ring based on one design, the total of ring we have to do is 5.. u read it correctly!! is 5!!! and how much weeks i have left?? hmmm 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, about 5 weeks and i still have other assignments to do, research paper, drawings.. aiyaiyai.. assignments has started pilling up and i have no time to spare.. but i cant do much work in the day, but in the night i felt full of energy, OMGod ><

so here's the design, i really do hope this comes out successfully cause im thinking of selling it then make more of it cause i love how it looks XD

now that i had done sketching these, i need to unconstruct them to pieces then reconstruct them with metal.. sounds complicated aye :(

Back as Usual, End of CNY2012

Chinese New Year 2012 has now over,
no more collecting angpau
no more visiting houses for angpau
no more firecrackers and fireworks
and lesser chips, snacks and crackers

had been not a very good end of cny for me... mine ends with a sick..
people plays firecrackers outside there home, while my throat is playing it inside
damn u throat!!!


so yeah, back to classes as usual
rushing assignments, presentation and projects as usual..
and i were able to finish my wood necklace and 2 pairs of earring right on time, even though is not as i sketched it out, but im still kinda liking it :))

and thankfully i had my own bench even though its old and tool-less cause im so darn lazy to connect those wires for lights and motor, so i secretly brought back the college's motor, OF COURSE i returned it when college starts

well, i will be posting soon about betty's birthday :DD

day before CNY 20012012

2 days left and CHINESE NEW YEAR is here!!!!!!!

so have you finished shopping for new clothes and stuffs yet??!!!! cleaned  yr house yet??!! hahaha, of course everyone did, even i did.. but i didnt shop much..just a few... its well enough for me :D *gotta save money for buying silver*

recently had been bz cleaning up the house and assignment.. and today will be the last day cleaning it up cause tomorrow my family will be start cooking stuff and get ready the dishes for the following day's reunion dinner with my grandparents and uncles.. its been awhile seeing my uncles.. wonder how are they O.O

so yeah, ASSIGNMENTS!! every student's nightmare!!! its common.. and its even a more nightmare when the assignments piled up, mine had started piled up and also with the current wood project it even made it worst.. had to carry this stress till the project finish.. always worry that it would finish.. sux :(

before i forgotten, yesterday i had just entered the JCI association, filled up the form, and from what i heard, im becoming a part of their creative department.. well, im very looking forward on helping the association out, but im also kinda stress out bout this, where people just has a high expectation from me which should be great, but for me its a huge burden.. i have gotta prove myself to them.. *wish me luck*

The best thing about Chinese New Year is of course getting Ang Pao, who can deny about this!!! tell me..!! hahahah, and also delicious food, visitings and gatherings... im looking forward to this cny :)

Reviews of 2011 and Resolution of 2012

Well, lots of people had written their last year's review and this year's resolution.. and now its my turn, there's been to much stuff going on, assignments, classes, chores, home cleaning, shopping, this and that, which made me no time to spend on blogging, had been really sad that i wasnt able to have the energy to blog anymore unlike previous times that i can blog for the whole week :(

so my last year were GREAT, best year i ever had, which i can hardly wish for more, hahahahhaha cause

1) i passed my SPM papers, which i felt totally awesome bout it 3As to me is actually good enough, i never hope so high on my theory studies, but its great!!!

2) then later on, i entered and started my college life in Raffles and from there.. i learnt so much bout jewelry making and art histories, and furthermore, i had 2 awesome lecturers!!! Adam and Sydney.. best betul mereka dua tu!!! and next my article on my work were featured on SinChew Newspaper with my Senior, Khai Lai X)

3) Wishes came true bout getting a converse red shoe and also a camera, LX5... and is like FINALLY a CAMERA to my own... i actually won the money from the MRT Logo Competition, Consolation Prize which is RM2000, so i used the money to buy camera and its leather cover..

4) I had finally went for at least one Nuffnang Events and the most important event, the NUFFNANG BLOG AWARDS and on that night, i met one of my favourite bloggers in Malaysia, Chukei and KennySia, This were actually a dream came true for me....

5) i celebrated my birthday TWICE which both twice also is surprise, this would be my first time 2 surprise celebration on the same day.. thankyou :)

6) and last but not least, i were also able to meet so many famous, fabulous, great people of Malaysia, there's Jimmy Choo, Amber Chia, Malaysia's Astronaut, and others...

actually there are more, but this are few of the most important things that matter me very much and appreciated it very very much.. hahahah, this review turned out like a thankyou post.. omgod.. ahhahahah

alright!!!! so for this year!!!! i wanna achieve:
1) better grades
2) less foul languages from me
3) exposed to more design elements and design stuff
4) meet more people
5) being less emotional and more to mature
6) better hairstyle
7) more impressive designs
8) and also i have to work extremely hard on time management...

there is just so much i want myself to be improved on.. SO MUCH, i can hardly state it down here..
so please stay tune for more.. from now on, i will be posting more about my design stuff and also event i attend, but i will also post bout my life :)

i also hope that this year is not THE END OF THE WORLD :)

Previous Sem Assignment 3.1

Its been a 9 months in Raffles, and it has ups and down,

so here's what last semester i did :)

both of these designs are based on the flow of water and the theme we chosen are summer, there were complications on molding it, but its fun to work with plastic :)

the silver colour is so cool and amazing, i just love how it looks with the black contrasting it

success!!! muahahahha :) and also for that class we did drawings, letterhead, 

and also designing a design journal of pictures we taken from magazine and camera....

alright i needa get back to work on my current design for my wood class 4.1 :)))
